Through this experience I’ve been able to give back to the community I was raised in while providing necessary utensils and nutritious food.

Rutgers Sports Nutrition
Piscataway, NJ
I started volunteering with RSN in August, 2018. I’ve working with multiple dietitians and Rutgers’s Division I Sports Teams. I mostly worked with the Football Team from August - December. In this role, I’ve been able to apply what I have learned in the classroom and educate athletes on proper pre/ post-practice/game fueling. This experience has taught me the importance of nutrition in sports, as well as working with a team ensure program efficiency. Below are some of the pre/post-practice/game snacks and meals I helped provide.
Refueling Stations
These stations had beverages and snacks to help refuel and rehydrate athletes after practices. 100% Tart Cherry Juice, Protein Water, Naked Juice, Coconut Water, Strawberry and Chocolate Milk, Gatorade Protein, and Muscle Milk were provided because of their nutrition content. During summer camp snack tables were provided through out the day. I set up these stations, chose the items available, and helped players choose an option.

Smoothie Station
The smoothie station was available during breakfast and lunch during Summer Camp. Smoothies were a mix of either fresh fruit, greens, Greek yogurt, peanut butter, or whey protein. My background in smoothie making definitely came in handy here! Smoothies are a great addition to an athletes breakfast as they can be high in protein, complex carbohydrates, and can sneak in fruits and vegetables!

Football: To Go Snack
To Go Snacks are provided to athletes to ensure proper feeding and nutrition at the end of the day or when they leave for away games. Above is when Jersey Mike’s Turkey Wraps, Grilled Buffalo Chicken Wraps, and Chicken Caesar Wraps were provided, and the snack table for away games. I received orders, checked for accuracy, organized the food, and helped players choose an option.
